000576 Kavanagh Patrick. (Edited By Peter Kavanagh) By Night Unstarred. An Autobiographical Novel. The Goldsmith Press. The Curragh. Ireland. 1977 1st Paperback Edition. Paperback Fair Corners are slightly bent and creased at edges, covers are a little grubby, content is good. At first glance this is a book about Irish country life containing the gayest and most authentic dialogue since William Carleton. Read from this point of view it is a most enjoyable book. This is Patrick Kavanagh's life as lived in the first half of the century. Instead of choosing, as Ernest Renan said in another connection, the tranquil and obscure destiny of one who lives for himself, he chose the troubled, stormy career of one who lives for humanity. Inside is a newspaper cutting from The Sunday Press dated July 26, 1970 it is an article about Peter Kavanagh's new book with a write up on Patrick Kavanagh. $36.08AUD |
