Original cloth a little flecked; spines a little darkened; extremites slightly bumped and rubbed; the foot of each spine with very slight wear (to a high spot); flyleaves offset; top edges a little darkened; leading edges lightly marked; overall an excellent set. Bingham was an English journalist in Paris from 1865 to 1885 who 'witnessed the closing scenes of the Second Empire and its fall, and the rise and development of the Third Republic' - not least, the siege of Paris and the Communist insurrection.
