Under The Dome signed limited edition in case (+ reader's copy)

King, Stephen

9292 Simon & Schuster New York 2009 1st Edition F/F Hardcover; 1st Printing 10, 20, 24 Signed. 1st edition/1st printing. NEW BOOK, fine and unread. True 1st edition, released 11-10-09 by the publisher before other formats, editions, or the trade edition. SIGNED by Stephen King, this book is one of the unnumbered but limited to 1500 signed limited edition copies sold out by the publisher prior to release. This signed limited edition includes a set of 27 cards in their own box designed and drawn by Matthew Diffee, 4-color endpapers which depict the area in which the novel takes place drawn in map format by Paul J. Pugliese, wrap-around dustjacket art which is based on a photo by Ray Brown, an orange with gold flecks paper belly band which is affixed to the dustjacket, black cloth over boards binding with white spine printing and an embossed dog on the lower front panel, and a sewn in silk ribbon bookmark. The shrinkwrap with its publisher label stating what the book is and its price, and the original publisher's box the book was shipped in are included. A custom slipcase addressing the problems inherent in such a thick book where weak hinges develop from the text block sagging has been designed and constructed and now houses the book safely. This custom slipcase contains an ivory satin-covered text block support block (very smooth, so the lower page edges can slide across it safely without snagging and yet rest on it while the book is in the case) with grooves on each side for the lower edges of the book's binding and lower spine edge, with the whole inside of the slipcase lined in the same ivory colored satin to prevent any rubbing or color transfer to the page edges. There is also a thumb-hole in the enclosed back end of the case so no vacuum lock is created when inserting or removing the book from the case (always a problem with very thick books). The case was built so the book could be safely housed outside of the publisher's shrinkwrap since shrinkwrap does nothing to prevent text block sag with accompanying weak hinges from developing, and can also cause problems with moisture or mold. The shrinkwrap, with its publisher's label, has been preserved and folded into an archival glassine envelope, and it and the still shrinkwrapped (which should be removed eventually by the book's owner) box with the cards are now housed in a separate small slipcase built onto the top of the book's slipcase - which has both a silver ribbon pull for removing them easily and also a silver ribbon with velcro fastener at the open end to keep them safely in their compartment. The slipcase is covered with a dark gray matt finish paper over boards, complementing the book's dustjacket, and has the front panel of a later printing trade edition on one side, which front panel is the same as the signed limited edition dustjacket except that it has no belly band. The unread later printing trade edition (without a dustjacket, of course, since used on the case and bound in paper-covered boards instead of cloth) is included for your reading pleasure so the signed limited edition can remain unread and pristine. The signed limited edition has been opened only for photographing of signature and copyright pages, and its dustjacket is now safely enclosed in an archival, removable, clear dustjacket protector. The whole package - the signed limited edition book, its dustjacket, the slipcase, the cards and their box, the reading copy of the book - is new, with no faults. The publisher's original shipping box, which is also a part of the package, has slight surface scuffing from being shipped, but the shipping label is intact, as is the box. ; 9-1/2" x 6-1/2"; 1074 pages; Signed by Author 9781439173879 $725.00USD
