Egil's Saga is among the best, as it is among the most famous, of the sagas of medieval Iceland. This complete translation into English from the Old Icelandic by Gwen Jones throws much light on the history of Scandinavia, Great Britain, and Iceland during the period 860-1000. This saga, put down on paper between 1220 and 1225 by an unknown author (very probably the greatest of saga writers, Snorri Sturluson, recounts the history of four generations of one family - Myramen, who left their homes and lands in Norway to escape the growing power of King Harald Fairhair. They established a new home in Iceland, where they held patriarchal sway for centuries and set a deep and distinctive mark on the history of their new country. $60.00USD Click here to order or message the dealer
