A letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands in Adelaide to the Surveyor-General (George W. Goyder) in the Northern Territory, outlining contingency plans in the event of unforeseen circumstances. However, "Your long experience, the frequent communication between the Government and yourself on the subject of the survey of the Northern Territory, and the manner in which you have personally superintended the fitting out of the present expedition with every requisite, render it unnecessary for me to lay down any instructions on points of detail".
