This site combines several sites first created in 1996 to provide a starting point for students and enthusiasts of English Literature. Nothing replaces a quality library, but hopefully this site will help fill the needs of those who have not access to one. The main focus of expansion at Luminarium right now is the completion of a new section entitled "Restoration and Eighteenth Century." This site has been in the planning stages for a long time, but the realization of it was halted by a thing as mundane as a nasty bout of carpal tunnel syndrome. About half of the said section has now been completed, and the projected completion date for the section is by the end of the year. Concurrent with the creation of the new section, more entries are being added to the Luminarium Encyclopedia almost daily; these entries serve on the most part to illuminate the biographies of the existing authors. The entries consist of biographies, places, legal terms, as well as contemporary documents, such as acts of Parliament, letters, maps, and so on. In addition to this, existing materials are updated, broken links fixed, new resources added, and new e-texts created.
